Is there any food more controversial than coleslaw? We all tend to be particular about coleslaw and many sway towards the side of being downright picky about it. However, with these BBQ Chicken Sliders, we have our own coleslaw mix that you can tweak to fit your tastes. We believe we have a great balance of flavors with the right amount of mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and honey that pairs so well with the tangy BBQ chicken.

There’s so much to love about these BBQ Chicken Sliders. The coleslaw balances out the BBQ chicken perfectly. You can also play around with the shredded chicken. Use your favorite BBQ sauce, and source your shredded chicken however works best for you. You can get a rotisserie chicken from the store or get the grill out and cook the chicken with the BBQ sauce and shred it later.

To add some more depth to this dish, you can take advantage of some temperature contrasts. My husband likes to grill chicken breasts with his favorite BBQ sauce, then shred the chicken, and serve it warm. The warm BBQ chicken with cool, crisp coleslaw on a soft, puffy slider bun works out wonderfully!

Notes & Tips:

  • Store in an airtight container disassembled in the refrigerator for up to five days. You can reheat the chicken in a baking dish in the oven at 350 for 10 minutes. Then reassemble the sliders.
  • Freeze leftover chicken in an airtight freezer ziplock bag for up to two months. Thaw in the refrigerator a day before then follow the reheating instructions above.
  • Serve with leftover coleslaw on the side, potato chips or french fries.
