Cod Fish Tacos

These healthy Cod Fish Tacos feature a beautiful seasoning of paprika and red chili powder on fresh cod fillets. These are restaurant-quality Cod Fish Tacos that you can easily make at home. They are perfect for a fun weekend dinner or for guests at your next get-together. For a party, these are best served in taco holders with corn tortillas but if you are making them for you and your family and you want to cut down on carbs or gluten, you can do without the tortillas. All the delicious flavors come from the other ingredients, so you won’t be missing out on too much.

Cod Fish Tacos need the cod, but in reality, you could use any other kind of flaky fish such as tilapia or haddock. You can mix and match the toppings too, adding jalapeños, corn, or even mangos to really amp up the flavor. No matter how you prepare them, they will always make a fresh, unique dinner!

Ingredients to Make Cod Fish Tacos:

  • cod 
  • paprika 
  • chili powder
  • sour cream
  • lime juice
  • fresh cilantro
  • red cabbage
  • corn tortillas 

How to Make Cod Fish Tacos:

In a small skillet, drizzle olive oil and heat on medium-high. Sprinkle paprika and chili powder on the cod then fry for 6-7 minutes on each side. In a small bowl whisk together sour cream, lime juice and cilantro. Set aside. 

When fish is cooked through, break into chunks and place on corn tortillas. Add a handful of red cabbage and drizzle with sour cream sauce. Serve immediately while hot. 

Notes & Tips:

  • Store in the fridge, disassembled for up to four days. You can freeze just the cooked fish for up to three months.
  • Any flakey fish will work for this recipe, like tilapia or haddock. 
  • Heat tortillas in the oven or microwave right before assembling. 
  • Additional toppings include jalapenos, avocados, corn or mango depending on preferences. 
  • This is a gluten free recipe if using corn tortillas.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound cod boneless and skinless
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro chopped
  • ½ cup red cabbage shredded
  • 4 corn tortillas

Instructions

  • In a small skillet, drizzle olive oil and heat on medium-high. Sprinkle the cod in paprika and chili powder then fry for 6-7 minutes on each side.
