Deep Dish Pizza

As it says in its name, this pizza is made in a deep dish, which, in this recipe iteration, uses a springform pan. This gives it that signature thick golden crust that your whole table will love!

Ingredients to Make Deep Dish Pizza:

  • active dry yeast
  • warm water
  • sugar
  • flour
  • olive oil
  • garlic powder
  • salt
  • mozzarella cheese
  • pizza sauce
  • pepperoni
  • mushrooms
  • black olives

How to Make Deep Dish Pizza:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until it begins to foam and the yeast has activated.
  2. Add the olive oil then slowly mix in the flour, garlic powder and salt. Mix until well combined and a ball is formed.
  3. In another large bowl greased with olive oil, roll the ball of dough until coated then cover with a tea towel or plastic wrap. Set aside in a warm place and allow to rise for 45 minutes to an hour, until the dough has doubled in size.
  4. After an hour, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9 inch springform pan with cooking spray.
  5. Place the dough ball into the springform pan then press and spread it to cover the bottom and sides of the pan.
  6. Spread the pizza sauce in an even layer over the bottom of the dough, then sprinkle with cheese, pepperoni slices, mushrooms and olives.
  7. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove and serve hot.

Notes & Tips:

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. You can also freeze in a freezer bag for up to three months. To reheat, place on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 350 for ten minutes. 
  • You can also use the same amount of a quick or instant rise yeast for this recipe.
  • Mix and match toppings depending on your preferences, any kind of pizza topping can be added to this recipe. 
  • If you don’t have a warm place for the dough to rise, turn your oven on to the lowest setting and allow it to rise in there. Do not place the dough in the oven if it is covered with plastic wrap.
  • The temperature of the water should be between 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit for the yeast to activate.
