Tips & Notes

Substitutions for Peanut Butter Banana Bars

  • All Purpose Flour: for a gluten free treat, replace the all purpose flour with the same amount of almond flour.
  • Baking Soda: if you’ve run out of this essential baking supply don’t worry, you can still make this delicious dessert! Just use three times as much baking powder for the same result.
  • Peanut Butter Chips: even though these are peanut butter banana bars, if you prefer chocolate with your banana, substitute the peanut butter chips for chocolate chops.
  • Sugar: if you have run out of sugar or want to try a healthier option, you can replace the sugar with honey. Although honey is sweeter than sugar so only use 1/3 cup for this recipe.

How to Store Peanut Butter Banana Bars

Counter: store these bars on the counter, in original baking dish covered with cling wrap for up to 4 days.

Freezer: cut bars into squares and place them in freezer ziplock bags to freeze for up to four months. When ready to eat leave on the counter for a day or two for them to thaw and reach room temperature.
