Philly Cheesesteak Quesadillas

These Philly Cheesesteak Quesadillas are a perfect dish for those who love delicious Philly Cheesesteaks as well as the crunch of flavorful quesadillas. Philly Cheesesteaks have become such a staple dish that the method of serving them has evolved and expanded over the years. This is one of my favorite versions with tender shaved steak, your favorite peppers, and onions, melted together perfectly in a classic flour tortilla.

A quesadilla really is a perfect vehicle to deliver a delicious Philly Cheesesteak in. It perfectly encompasses the melty, cheesy, flavorful concoction that is a Philly Cheesesteak Quesadilla. You can customize these quesadilla as you like as well. Some people may like to fully caramelize the peppers and onions before adding them in, but we like that fresh crunch of a lightly cooked, tender pepper. We use provolone cheese too, but you can use cheddar or really anything else, depending on what your definition of a Philly Cheesesteak is!

Philly Cheesesteak Quesadillas are such a fun, savory dish that it’s perfect for so many occasions. You can use these as party food or a fun dinner idea. Believe it or not, they also freeze well up to 3 months, so you can make a big batch to save for a large get together or party. Serve these with mayonnaise as a dipping sauce for the true Philly Cheesesteak experience!

Ingredients to Make Philly Cheesesteak Quesadillas:

  • shaved steak
  • onion
  • red pepper
  • green pepper
  • provolone cheese
  • flour tortillas

How to Make Philly Cheesesteak Quesadillas:

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the onions and cook until they start to become translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add in the sliced peppers and cook for another 5 minutes until tender. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Decrease the heat to low and add the shaved steak. Cook slowly over low heat until the beef is cooked through, careful not to overcook. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add one tortilla to the skillet, layering four half slices of provolone cheese, peppers and onions,  shaved steak and top with four more half slices of provolone cheese. Cook for 2-3 minutes then fold in half and flip over.
  5. Repeat with each tortilla then cut each in half and serve.

Notes & Tips:

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can also freeze in a freezer bag for up to three months. 
  • You can also use thinly sliced sirloin steak or even ground beef if preferred. 
  • Serve with mayonnaise, sriracha or a combination of both.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shaved steak
  • ½ medium onion
  • 1 red pepper sliced
  • 1 green pepper sliced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 large tortillas
